I was born in Bogotá, Colombia on July ,1936. My family has a rich musical heritage and I was surrounded  by grandparents, uncles and aunts who played various instruments. In high school I traded my bicycle for an accordion and within two weeks I began  playing with my classmates and friends at serenades, trips, parties and festivals. When I started medical school lack of time forced me to put my accordion in a closet.

I graduated as a physician at the " Universidad Nacional; Medicina" in 1963. After my graduation as a medical doctor, and after three years of giving her accordion lessons I married my beautiful wife Leila. I was given the opportunity to do my internship and internal medicine training in Youngstown, Ohio. We moved there in 1965 with two children and one accordion. Upon completion of my internship  I was offered a fellowship Endocrinology (Diabetes) in  Pittsburg. So with four children, one accordion and one piano we moved from Ohio to Pennsylvania.

In 1977, seeking a warmer climate I relocated my medical practice from Pittsburg to Sugar Land, Texas where I serve the community with diabetes care, and also teach medicine at the University of Texas in Houston.

Vince Ramos motivated me to join the Fort Bend County Accordion Club and  restart music lessons with Mario Pedone and in December 2004, we returned to Bogotá,, Colombia to celebrate my 50th High School reunion and the 400 year anniversary of the foundation of my school, San Bartolome Nacional. There I played my accordion for my classmates one more time.

My wife and I share our lives with seven grand children four children, a Shuman Piano, a Ketron electric piano, a Honner accordion., a tiple and a guitar. I enjoy playing all types of music, but favor tango, pasillo, samba, pasodoble, blues, and waltzes.

Currently I am also a member of the board of the Houston Chamber Orchestra and  of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land.
