Delores Baumann is a native of Switzerland. At the age of six her parents
encouraged her to take gymnastics and to study the accordion. For a year she
did both, but then decided to give up the accordion in favor of gymnastics.
In 1999, for her mother's eightieth birthday, Delores surprised her by
playing Happy Birthday on the accordion. The experience brought tears to her
mother's eyes and rekindled the flame for accordion music. She soon bought
herself a beautiful Hohner and began trying to teach herself again. After
reaching a plateau she resolved to find herself a proper teacher and in 2003
began taking lessons from Mario Pedone. She has made remarkable progress
since and enjoys playing Strauss waltzes and other classical music. |
